23km From Russian Forces

The sun is shining but it’s a little smokey from the relentless shelling in a small city on the outskirts of Bakhmut. We’ve rolled into town a little before 1900 and everything is shutting down for the night due to a 2000 curfew. There are collaborators in the area, so people need to be in their homes with lights out to not provide those nasty occupants with a reason or an excuse to send their terror.

There’s at least one incoming artillery ordinance per minute and there doesn’t seem to be a focal point… a side-street here, a church parking lot there, a kebab stand, and a whole lot of gas stations. The Russians are using 152 mm howitzer 2A65 (“Msta-B”), a piece of artillery that can shoot in excess of 40kms… luckily for us, their nasty exploding artillery-heads aren’t really effective at this range.

Looks like canned food for tonight and then an early-start to the grocery store in the morning. Sweet dreams, all.
