We went into Kharkiv during the 2022 mission to deliver 10,000kg of food, medicine, and hygiene products  to the citizens remaining in the city. Fighting was happening in different parts of the city and no stores were open, the people remaining were very low on supplies. The artillery at night was unrelenting.

Because of the situation, security was high and a contact was made in one of the units, a Ukrainian that had left an overseas consulting job to return to Ukraine and enlist following the 2014 annexation of Crimea. Yuriy’s picture was displayed on the wall of coffeeshop with other soldiers from the area. Under the photos were names, callsigns, units and KIA dates.

The date on his… April 30, 2022 the last contact was April 26, 2022. When we say “Heroym Slava” we think of the brave men who pay the ultimate price in the name of an autonomous Ukraine.
