No room to spare

A kind volunteer enroute from Poland in a donated vehicle he was driving to a unit defending the Bakhmut front answered our transportation request. He was meeting up with another vehicle with donated goods for the unit the next morning and had room for our donations, plus one.

We didn’t get far before one of the vehicles in our convoy to the East had a transmission failure. The plan was to drive straight to Kyiv, then go down to Kharkiv (sleep a night) then head towards Bakh the next day but our 6-hour trip only produced 110 kms.

Night-travel was limited without the relevant documents that were waiting in Kyiv, night was falling and curfew was approaching. We needed to find a place to sleep, luckily the three Poles in the group had a hack for this situation.
